Alcon® LADARVision® 4000

The LADARVision 4000 uses state-of-the-art technology to achieve the widest range of FDA-approvals in nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. By incorporating LADARTracker™ active eye tracking capabilities, Dr. Boothe and the LADARVision 4000 excimer laser system can provide superior precision to your LASIK laser vision correction procedure. Dr William Boothe

Only the LADARVision 4000 by Alcon has expanded FDA claims for improved accuracy in corneal shaping. By using a fine laser beam smaller than the width of a human hair (less than 1mm in width), the LADARVision 4000 allows corneal tissue to be removed in small, gradual increments for a superior, smoother reshaping.

Eye tracking is important for accurate results since it is critical that the laser beam be applied to the exact spot required to shape the cornea correctly. One of the challenges any surgeon will face while performing LASIK laser vision correction is the slightest involuntary movement of the eye. The eyes are continually moving, approximately 100 times a second and it is difficult, if not impossible, to keep the eyes absolutely still. Alcon Surgical’s LADARVision 4000 excimer laser system tracks the eye at a rate of 4,000 times per second, tracking the fastest eye movements with a 4x safety margin and adjusting the placement of each laser pulse.

CustomCornea® LADARVision System

CustomCornea was the first LASIK procedure FDA-approved to provide a fully customized treatment for your vision, addressing higher-order aberrations that had previously gone undetected. The LADARWave® wavefront device is used to create a wavefront map of each eye, capturing the unique combination of higher and lower-order aberrations present in your optical system. The resulting Wavefront Map for each eye is then placed into the excimer laser system, and converted to a guide for the laser. The result is a Wavefront Customized LASIK treatment. At Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center, 98% of patients who undergo WaveFront Customized IntraLASIK achieve 20/20 vision or better!

Now, with the CustomCornea LADARVision 4000 system, laser vision correction is available for more than 90 percent of the nearsighted population. Patients with severe nearsightedness (myopia) up to -8.0 diopters can be treated, an increase from -7.0 diopters. Patients with astigmatism up to -4.0 diopters (up from -0.5) are now candidates for Wavefront Customized IntraLASIK as well. This advancement in technology is only available by Alcon and was available first in Dallas, Fort Worth and the surrounding cities by Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center.
